While in Kerela last week, I went elephant trekking through a large wildlife reserve that is famous for it's tigers, elephants, and buffalo. I saw a bunch of leeches, a large squirrel, and a lot of elephant dung. It was still a really cool since we got to ride is open top jeeps, cross a lake in a bamboo raft, and wear special leech socks covered in tobacco powder.

One of my major new adjustments has been the Asian bathroom. Please note there is no toilet bowl or flushing mechanism. There is however, a ceramic hole in the floor that you squat over and bucket that doubles as a shower. Toilet paper is not allowed, but thankfully there is a smaller bucket in the larger bucket that can be used to scoop out water to splash on yourself. I feel like this is the outhouse (indoors) that I never had.

This is my 'little America'. I have my peanut butter and jelly on the shelf, along with my jeans and English books. My host family thinks that I'm really weird because I like peanut butter.

Here is me with my host family! They are super nice. The 'skirt' looking thing is the traditional formal wear for Tamil Nadu. I had gone to a wedding this night and my host family seized the opportunity to snap a shot together.
